Facebook offer many features for hotel owners on their business pages. So many, that you can quickly get overwhelmed and confused. Facebook is frequently rolling out some new features who may vary depending on category you allocate your business in. For example, “page info” fields in your Business page “Admin panel” varies if you are an individual hotel or a hotel chain.
Today, we are going to make some proposals to improve the presentation of your Hotel Facebook page. As usual, when we speak about “Merchandising” your hotel online, we will list key details and information you always need to share with guests interested to stay or who are already on their way, to your hotel(s).
To make setting process easier for you, we have numbered the labels used on menu “Page info” of your business page “Admin panel” and have indicated where the corresponding text/information is displayed on the 2 Hotel Facebook Page screen shots below.
To access the following interface, log in as your Facebook page administrator. On your “Admin Panel”, click on “Edit Page” and select “Update Page info. The below Control panel will display.
Hotel Guideline to set up your Facebook page
Some of labels on Facebook “admin panel” are self-explanatories. Below, we will cover most problematic fields or labels to obtain a nice lay out of your content on your “About” page.
3) & 4) “Category” & “Sub-Category”
For individual hotel
Category: Local Businesses > Hotel
Sub-category: Hotel – Nightlife- Restaurants – Spa … (choose maximum 3 sub categories, otherwise, you might take the risk that your main sub category “Hotel” might not show on your page as for Hotel Diagonal Zero
For Hotel Chains
Category: Companies & Organisations > Travel/Leisure
Sub-category: hotel, Resort, casino …
If your Hotel Chains is set as a Local Business instead of Companies & Organisations, your page will appear in wrong category on Open Graph Search Box

5) Address
Individual Hotel should show the map with the correct localization of your hotel.
Most Global Hotel Brand are not sharing this information on their Facebook page. Palladium Hotel Groups is one of the few group sharing their address. Here an example for The Royal Suites
8) Short Description –> About
For a brand on homepage : advise to write a text between 120 to 145 characters. (Facebook limit: 155 characters)
9)Long Description –> Description
To avoid repeating information, you will already share with your visitors in the other fields, we recommend to write this section at the end. After the first 400 characters, take into consideration that users will need to click on the link “See more” to read remaining content.
10) General Information –> General Information
From 400 characters, Facebook show the link “See more”. We particularly recommend to use those first 400 characters to add links to your blog and other Social Networks profiles as on our example

6) Start info
12) Price Range
14) Parkings (For individual hotels)

Any hotel should share in this section its GDS coordinate.
If you are a City hotel, write 15 words or 120 characters for the each of this bullet points

An countryside hotel would provide more information about direccions by road.

Make reference to your Brand Loyalty Program and add a link to its dedicated Facebook pages and
list your key amenities over 10 lines maximum or 400 characters ( Restaurant, Spa, Business Center, Meeting rooms, Swimming pool..

By default, Facebook displays information on the field 11) Founded
If you wish to add more key dates in your hotel history, you need to post some milestones. To do so, go to your timeline, on the box where you write post, click on “Offers/Events” and select milestone.
